What is a cooling tea?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body’s harmony and health are achieved by balancing the yin (cool) and yang (warm) energy in the body. Too much internal heat (yang) may manifest in inflammation, breakouts, skin rashes and itchiness, mouth ulcers, dry mouth, nose bleeds, or headaches. Parch “leung cha 涼茶" directly translates to “cooling tea” and is traditionally consumed to offset excessive internal heat.
How many can I drink a day?
Parch is a gentle cooling tea, suitable for your regular enjoyment. However, we recommend that you start with no more than 1 bottle per day as it may offset too much internal heat. Listen to your body and slowly adjust depending on how you feel and your lifestyle.
What are some “yeet hay” or yang foods?
“Yeet hay” or yang foods are those that result in excessive internal heat. Typical examples of yang foods (yeet hay) are:
Anything fried, barbequed or spicy
• Animal proteins like chicken, pork, and beef
• Warm spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and turmeric
• Eggs, nuts, avocado, raw onion, and mushrooms
Do I need to refrigerate my teas?
Parch is best served chilled but refrigeration is not required for storage. A process known as high-acid hot fill is used so that no artificial preservatives are required for extended shelf life at room temperature (up to 12 months) - feel free to stock up!
Should I drink Parch while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Parch should not be consumed while pregnant or breastfeeding. It is recommended that you speak to your physician, pharmacist, or other health care provider if you're unsure if Parch is right for you.
What are the key ingredients?
Parch teas have three key traditional ingredients - Prunella Vulgaris 夏枯草, Potentilla Discolour 北紫草 and Chinese Brown Sugar 片糖. Each ingredient was thoughtfully selected based on traditional knowledge and its therapeutic benefits.
